What’s in my Carry-On: Best Leggings for Travel
When flying, I like to be comfortable but still somewhat pulled together. My travel uniform is often one part leggings, one part long sweater/tunic, and a leather jacket with a scarf/blanket to top it off.
I love to wear leggings while traveling because they’re super comfortable and you can double your wardrobe by later using them at the gym.
For those adverse to denim on an airplane, here are my favorite (and most flattering) leggings for travel.
Classic Leggings: J Crew Signature Leggings
I’m currently on my third pair of these leggings. The material is super stretchy and thick, so it’s almost as if you’re wearing real pants. Plus, they’re so flattering. I love the wide elastic waistband that camouflage without digging into my muffin top. The only negative is that they tend to fade with multiple washes, but otherwise, they’re indestructible.
Leather Leggings: Athleta All Over Gleam Tight
I wear these leggings when I want to look a bit more polished without sacrificing comfort. The material is actually a vegan leather fabric that’s stretchy, making it ideal for travel. There’s a high-rise waistband that’s ultra-flattering and a hidden envelope pocket inside to hold your credit card or key or Ambien. Bonus: They come in petite, regular, and tall.
Athletic Leggings: lululemon Wunder Under High-Rise Tight
I love this pair of leggings because they can take you from the airport to the yoga studio to lunch in one wear. The material, which is sweat-wicking with a four-way stretch, is designed to feel more like “second skin,” so the cottony-soft fabric lends more towards stylish than sporty.
Loungy Legging: Spacedye Take Me Higher Long Legging
These leggings are so incredibly soft that you’ll never want to take them off. Sometimes, I actually pet myself while wearing them. Like the lululemon, these leggings have a four-way stretch and quick-dry properties. They are super flattering and the spacedye makes them a bit funkier, but not too over-the-top.
