My Favorite Airline for Flying Coach

My Favorite Airline for Flying Coach

Long-haul flights on coach can be a bummer, but Nate found one that actually makes flying (almost) luxurious. Here, his review:

A few years ago when planning a surprise 10th anniversary trip for Annie. I had ideas in my head for pulling out all of the stops with every amenity one could dream of—including first class plane tickets. However as most any traveler knows, flying first class anywhere, let alone Asia, is insanely expensive. Surely a coach flight wouldn’t spoil an otherwise great surprise trip, would it?

Given the financial constraints, I decided that if I couldn’t afford (or have the points for) an upgraded plane ticket, I’d spend slightly more to fly an airline with the nicest coach seats.  After a good bit of research, I settled on Emirates. While cities serviced by this airline are limited in the US, it is definitely worth it if you have access.

A few reasons that makes Emirates coach so great: The amenities are top-notch (including the toiletry/sleep kits), multiple meals and snacks are provided, and smaller snacks and refreshments are available at off times as well. The staff is fantastic from the check-in desk to the flight attendants that take care of you, and in-flight entertainment is unrivaled in my experience. Most importantly, perhaps is that the seats have a decent amount of room. Basically, Emirates doesn’t skimp on all of the little things that many airlines do . It might cost a little more, so if budget is a primary motivation, this probably isn’t the right airline. But if you’re interested in a nicer experience, Emirates is a great way to get that and not break the bank.
